MLB Today and Yesterday

 Introduction

This series of blogs will consist of the MLB. The MLB stands for Major League Baseball. In this series I will go over what is happening today in the baseball world, as well as some of the history of baseball.

I will give you insight to some of my favorite players and what they have done for the league. I am dedicated to providing my readers with the latest news and analysis of this year's MLB season.

I have always been super passionate about baseball and want to share my love and knowledge of the game with you. Please join me in exploring America's favorite pastime.

I have loved baseball since I was a little kid. I played baseball all the way through high school, and hope to play for fun from now on.

Baseball brings me a sort of happiness I may not ever feel again. The feeling of walking on the field, a walk off, a diving catch, a home run. All these things make the game of baseball so enjoyable and memorable. I enjoy baseball so much I feel like I could recall every game of my life.

I will now give you some insight on our first two blogs so you can get a feel for what to expect. To help you out a little, the MLB consists of two parts: the NL(national league) and AL(American League).

My first blog will be about this year's MVP Race. This year's NL MVP race is between Mookie Betts and Ronald Acuna Jr. The AL isn't as near as interesting considering Shohei Ohtani leads the AL in Batting Avg. and Home Runs. Every year it's always such a good competition. This year especially, is a great year for baseball.

My second post will be about the most sought after Stadiums. Stadiums either make or break the experience. The atmosphere of a special stadium changes the experience big time.

I can't wait to continue telling you about the MLB. It's a very unique sport where even when you fail seven out of ten times you are considered great!

MLB MVP Race 2023

With July being over, and it also being the most important month of baseball, each game is so important. Each game is important because the season is coming to an end and teams need good seeding for playoffs.

MLB is the only sport that gives out two MVP’s. They have two leagues. The NL and AL, standing for National League and American League.

Since each game means so much that means it's important to perform well. When you perform well late in the season it is magnified. September and October is when you either win or lose the MVP Race.

Over in the NL, Mookie Betts and Ronald Acuna have been battling for weeks. Betts is having one of the best seasons of his life, batting almost .400. What makes Betts so special is his ability to play any position. The Dodgers have put him in Right, Center, Second, and even shortstop.

Acuna is having a season himself. Acuna was one of the fastest in history to reach 20/40/50. This means 20 home runs, 40 Stolen Bases, and 50 RBI’s all before the all star break, which is a little over half the season. He is on pace for a historic season.

As much as I would love to see Acuna win a MVP so young, I am in favor of Betts. Watching Betts you can just tell he just brings much more variability, and more knowledge to the game than Acuna.

The AL MVP isn't as exciting. The frontrunners are Julio Rodriguez and Shohei Ohtani. Rodriguez is only in his second year of his career and has some developing to do. If he is this good now imagine how good he will be in five years.

Ohtani just recently underwent elbow surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. Ohtani will not be able to pitch until 2025. This is devastating considering people were calling him the next Babe Ruth.

If Ohtani did not end his season I would have given him my vote. I now believe Rodriguez should win considering his league high of 51 RBI and batting average of .337.

As we approach the playoffs it will be exciting to watch these guys play. It is important to make it far in the playoffs to better your odds of MVP.

Barry Bonds - The Homerun King

Barry Bonds is considered the greatest homerun hitter in all of baseball history. Bonds was most known for his time with the San Fransisco Giants and his record-breaking 762 Home Runs.

Bonds started his career in 1986 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bonds won his first MVP in 1990 and felt like he needed more. The Giants were able to give him what he deserved. Bonds was voted MVP a total of seven times in his career.

After joining the Giants Bonds he really blossomed into the legend he was meant to be.

In 2001 Bonds destroyed Mark McGwire's single-season Homerun record, hitting 73! It seemed like he was playing against little kids.

The steroid era happened in the prime of Bonds' career. Many people don't believe he's the greatest and think he shouldn't be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 2011, many years after his career ended Bonds was convicted of obstruction of justice in connection with the BALCO scandal, damaging a stellar career.

Most people think Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame. So many greats did steroids and are in the Hall of Fame, why can't Bonds?

People want to diminish a great career just because of some steroids. He would have done nearly the same thing without them.

Bonds ended with a career average of .300 and was so dangerous nearly every manager intentionally walked him. Bonds was also a runner, tallying a total of 500 stolen bases.

Despite all the controversy towards him, Bonds is one of the greats. His discipline and ability to read pitchers and adapt caused him to stand out.

Bonds made a return to baseball as a hitting coach for the Marlins in 2016, but that only lasted one year. Other coaches claimed he was lazy and was a distraction to the players.

Bonds' career isn't just statistics and records. He left a huge impact on the baseball world. As fans, we have to decide whether to celebrate or hate the controversies surrounding Barry Bonds.
